To the Government of Sweden,
We, the undersigned political parties, are writing to express our deep concern regarding the decision to deport Asma Mirbaluch Zahi, a political refugee, back to Iran. We urge you to reconsider this decision in light of the grave consequences it may have for her safety and well-being.
The history of human rights in Iran has been widely condemned and there are numerous reports of human rights violations against civil and political activists, especially women. Deporting asylum seekers to Iran endangers their lives and exposes them to execution and heavy prisons, torture and psychological abuse.
Iran’s human rights record is widely condemned and there are numerous reports of violations against civil and political activists. Deporting asylum seekers to Iran puts their lives at risk and exposes them to persecution and potential harm.
The deportation of political refugees back to Iran under the current regime could have severe repercussions. Kurds and Baluch in Iran face systematic discrimination and repression, with limited access to basic rights and freedoms. Returning them to Iran would subject them to further persecution, imprisonment, torture, and even execution.
It is imperative that Sweden upholds its commitment to human rights and international law by providing protection to asylum seekers fleeing persecution. By deporting individuals like Asma Baloch to Iran, Sweden would be complicit in violating their fundamental rights and putting their lives in danger.
We call on the Swedish government to halt the deportation of Asma Baloch and other political asylum seekers to Iran. Instead, we urge you to offer them the protection and support they need to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
